After much excitement for the return of OCN’s “Bad Guys” for a second season, it seems that the original cast will not be returning to reprise their roles. Instead, OCN has confirmed that they are casting some of the biggest and most popular actors to fill the slot vacated by Kim Sang Joong, Park Hae Jin, Ma Dong-seok, Jo Dong Hyuk and Kang Ye Won.
According to a report by Soompi, OCN has already confirmed in its final cast for “Bad Guys 2” veteran actor Park Joong Hoon, “Scarlet Heart Ryeo” star Kang Ha Neul, “Empress Ki” and “A Frozen Flower” actor Joo Jin Mo and Uhm Tae Goo will be starring in the second season of the drama. The second season is expected to follow a similar concept as the original crime drama.
Based on the report, Park Joong Hoon will play the role of prosecutor Woo Jae Moon. Kang Ha Neul will be playing the role of Noh Jin Pyung, a third-year prosecutor who works with Woo Jae Moon. It is expected that Joo Jin Mo and Uhm Tae Goo will play the roles of convicted criminals who will be tapped to help solve complicated cases like in the first season of “Bad Guys.”
It can be recalled that the winning formula for “Bad Guys” was in the unique relationship between Kim Sang Joon, who plays unconventional detective Gu Tak and the four criminals he has taken the liberty to utilize for his special cases — serial killer Lee Jung Moon (Park Hae Jin), underground thug Park Un Cheol (Ma Dong Seok) and hired assassin Jung Tae Soo (Jo Dong Hyuk). While the team solved crimes and grew cohesive as a unit, the drama was able to inject questions about trust and a twist was introduced towards the end that made for a unique viewing experience, Korea Portal reported.
“Bad Guys 2” is expected to release in the later part of the year. The crime drama will be aired on OCN after the run of its supernatural drama “Black.”
