SINGAPORE — Can’t wait for the South Korean remake of hit Chinese series Scarlet Heart to air? Well here’s the next best thing: The show’s actor, Kang Ha Neul, who plays the 8th prince, will be coming to town for a meet and greet session on Aug 27 — two days before Scarlet Heart premieres on Korean entertainment channel ONE.
Kang, an up-and-coming Korean star, plays the role of the dashing 8th Prince Wang Wook in Scarlet Heart — which builds on the same premise as the original Chinese series but is based on the Korean Goryeo dynasty instead of the Chinese Qing dynasty.
Prior to Scarlet Heart, Kang acted in The Inheritors, where he is known for his scene-stealing stint as an over-achieving student body president. He has also clinched several Best New Actor awards for his comedic performance playing the lead role in the movie Twenty.
The meet-and-greet session, which will be held at Waterway Point and is open to public, will allow fans to get up close and personal with the actor. Activities include an autograph session, group photo opportunities and stage games for lucky fans and subscribers of ONE. Official Scarlet Heart merchandise will also be handed out at the event.
Scarlet Heart will air exclusively on ONE in Singapore on Aug 29, at the exact same time as the show’s telecast in Korea. It is the first regional cable channel in Southeast Asia to simulcast a South Korean drama series.
A Date with Kang Ha Neul is on Aug 27 in the evening, at Village Square @ Level 1, West Wing, Waterway Point. Admission is free.
