Kang Ha Neul says that he will never date an actress.
Kang Ha Neul attended an interview with Newsen for his film C’est si bon on February 9 and shared his thoughts on the film.
Having acted as the real person Yoon Hyung Joo in C’est si bon, Kang Ha Neul kept close to the other actors, such as Jin Goo, Jung Woo and Jo Bok Rae, as he was known as the aegyo maknae on the set. He said, “It’s strange but I feel uncomfortable with women. Not because I feel uncomfortable but because I think they might feel uncomfortable.”
Kang Ha Neul said, “I have to be considerate of many things with women so it’s a bit uncomfortable for me to approach them. They could also feel uncomfortable about me. There are many things that I try to control. I could’ve become closer to Han Hyo Joo nuna too but I think I may have held myself back too much. But I like hyungs. I feel more comfortable with them,” bringing out laughter.
When asked when he will start dating if he likes his hyungs that much, Kang Ha Neul said, “People ask me why I don’t date when I’m working on projects, such as the recent one Twenty, which had many actresses, including Jung So Min and Min Hyo Rin. But I don’t feel anything for actresses. I haven’t felt anything yet and will not feel anything in the future too.”
Kang Ha Neul added, “But there is an actress who I’m a fan of. I’m a fan of Jung Yoo Mi sunbaenim. I met her once at the VIP screening of Manhole and my hand started shaking when we shook hands because I am such a big fan. It was the first time that my hands shook like that in front of a woman. I liked her since the movie How to Operate a Polaroid Camera. She has a good eye for projects. I like her tone when she acts and how she looks comfortable without embellishing herself too much.”
Kang Ha Neul explained, “In the dramas I Need a Romance and Discovery of Romance, there are times when Jung Yoo Mi sunbaenim just lets go of herself while acting. She has a similar acting philosophy as me. I think the moment that an actor looks the best is not when he tries to look cool but when he looks like his character. I think he looks cool when he can fully pull off his character. Instead of doing more in order to look pretty, a good actress is one that can pull off her role.”
Having denied that he ever dated an actress and never will, Kang Ha Neul said, “I heard that one artist said this. That if he is born again, he will never hold a brush in his hands. I think it’s similar to that. I know how difficult it is to act and how impoverished you become so I don’t want to date an actress.”
“If I met an actress and think that she has just as much love for acting, it might look difficult. There are people like this too. The ones who have no love for acting. If I can see that the actress has no love for acting, I don’t think I would find her charming. So I’m not planning on dating an actress.”
Kang Ha Neul continued, “I cannot say that I like acting myself. I think it’s arrogant to say that I love acting. I don’t know if I take enough time to think about acting but in my opinion, I do. Those thoughts give me a hard time. So even if I were to just drink coffee at a café, I have so many thoughts in my head. I don’t have a specific place where I de-stress but I listen to music, go for a drive, just sit still at home or sleep. I try to be comfortable.”
Meanwhile, C’est si bon is a film set in the music hall ‘C’est si bon,’ which produced the artists that set the wave for folk music in Korea, namely Jo Young Nam (Kim In Kwon), Yoon Hyung Joo (Kang Ha Neul), Song Chang Sik (Jo Bok Rae) and Lee Jang Hee. The movie will depict the story behind the birth of the legendary duo ‘Twin Folio’ and the love story surrounding their muse.
Supposing that ‘Twin Folio’ was originally a trio, it will tell the story of Yoon Hyung Joo, Song Chang Sik and Oh Keun Tae (Jung Woo) and the C’est si bon muse Min Ja Young (Han Hyo Joo). Kim Hee Ae and Kim Yoon Suk played as Min Ja Young and Oh Keun Tae in their 40’s. The film has ranked number one in the box office since February 5.
